Olinda is one of Brazil’s best preserved colonial towns, an Unesco World Heritage. Placed on a hill overlooking Recife city and the ocean, there are always beautiful views to admire. From scalloped wooden eaves and windows fronted by wrought-iron balconies to heavy doors fitted with ornamental hinges, every street offers something unique.
The small city counts with charming pousadas, interesting shops and some excellent restaurants. Local life is relaxed and laid back, making Olinda an excellent place to stop in for a night or two.
