The North region of Brazil is the largest one, corresponding to 45.27% of the national territory. But since the Amazon forest occupies the biggest part of the area, it is the least inhabited part of the country. It comprises 7 states: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins. The main gates are Belém and Manaus airports, with connections to many brazilian cities, and they also operate some international flights.
The Amazon forest is the greatest highlight of the region, with its vast ecosystem and many good options of lodges and cruises. Other interesting touristic destinations are cities of Manaus and Belem, and the Marajo island.
