Located just off the emerald green coastline between Rio and Sao Paulo, Ilha Grande is a Brazilian Island Paradise, far away from the trappings of modern life. Covered in tropical vegetaon, there are no cars on the island and the only means of transport is by foot or (much more conveniently) by boat. There are numerous stunning beaches hidden away in lile coves
making the island a joy to explore. Although the island’s main village does have some restaurants and a couple of bars, the main reason to come here is to relax and enjoy the beauful surroundings.

What to do? Relaxing on the beach, Surfing, Trekking across the island, Boat trips. Lopes Mendes: A must-go beach. It is considered by many notable travel magazines as one of the ten most beauful beaches in the world. It is the largest of the 107 beaches scaered throughout Ilha Grande. Take a boat to Pouso beach then a light trail unl Lopes Mendes. Other places to be explored: Lagoa Azul (lagoon), Gruta do Acaiá (cave), Pico do Papagaio (mountain), Cachoeira da Feiceira (cascade), Cachadaço Beach, Aventureiro Beach Abraão: it is the island´s main village, where most pousadas and restaurants are located. There are also stores, a church, pharmacies, small markets. From its pier the boats and schooners departure for the tours.
