São Paulo, one of the most populous cities in the world, global hub of LGBTQIA+ culture, with its intense cultural, nightlife and  that boasts the title of having the largest Gay Pride parade in the world.

It is to this city that we invite you to travel now.

 

Where to stay in São Paulo

The Jardins district is the best place to stay. It is an affluent part of the city with many excellent hotels to choose from. Jardins has around 200 bars and restaurants,  some of the best museums and boutiques in São Paulo are found in this part of the city too. Let’s not forget to say that the famous Avenida Paulista is also within walking distance of most hotels.

Day 2 – SÃO PAULO

We will start the day visiting the most emblematic address in the city, Avenida Paulista, an important financial and cultural center, as well as an effervescent spot for São Paulo gastronomy and bohemia, where the famous LGBTQIA+ Parade in São Paulo takes place.

As it should be, we will tour several attractions on Frei Caneca and Augusta streets, the most famous LGBTQIA+ areas of the city, with an optional stop at one of their bakeries or cafeterias, such as Bela Paulista or Athenas Restaurant

Afterwards, we will visit the Conjunto Nacional, which houses the Livraria Cultura, containing a giant collection and a delightful environment to stroll inside. Returning to Av. Paulista, we will be able to visit several other attractions, such as the Centro Cultural Fiesp and Parque Trianon, located in front of the São Paulo Museum of Art (Masp).

Before the visit, take the opportunity to have lunch there, at the Uni Restaurant, located inside the museum, which offers a panoramic view of Trianon Park, or go to the “prainha”, a place that brings together several bars and restaurants in Alameda Joaquim Eugênio of Lima.

After lunch, we will visit MASP, one of the most important museums in Latin America and one of the most visited in the country. Enjoy works by Monet, Rafael, Renoir, Picasso and Van Gogh, among many others.

Leaving there, we will continue along Av. Paulista, where there are other very interesting cultural centers, such as Casa das Rosas, dedicated to literature and poetry, and Itaú Cultural, always with incredible exhibitions.

Located in Alameda Ministro Rocha Azevedo, we will have dinner at the Spot Restaurant, an elegant place and extremely busy, frequented by those who want to see and be seen.

Next, how about a bar? Two options for LGBTQIA+ audiences might be interesting for a good drink: the Volt, on Rua Haddock Lobo, or the Barão de Itararé, on Rua Peixoto Gomide. In case want to enjoy something more lively, the São Paulo night still offers famous ballads such as Heavy House and The Edge (night club entrance fee & consumption, direct payment)

 

Day 3 – SÃO PAULO

We will start our tour by walking through the elegant Jardins district, passing by Oscar Freire and Haddock Lobo streets, stopping to visit the city’s coolest shops, cafes and restaurants (optional: stop for a coffee in Santo Grão, Ofner or Kopenhagen).

Before lunch we’ll stop by the trendy Vila Madalena which, in addition to bringing together several galleries, thrift stores and ateliers, also hosts the Beco do Batman, an unusual passage lined with graffiti, which is periodically redone by various urban artists.

Afterwards, we can make an optional stop at Shopping Iguatemi, or we can go directly to have lunch at Skye Bar,, one of the most interesting restaurants in São Paulo, located on top of the Unique design hotel, which offers an incredible view of Ibirapuera Park, or , if you prefer, lunch can be served at Vista Restaurant, located at the top of the Contemporary Modern Art Museum (MAC), which also offers a spectacular view of the same park. In the afternoon, we will explore the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), both located in Ibirapuera Park, which also houses the Afro Brasil Museum, the Monumento das Bandeiras, Obelisco and the São Auditorium. Paulo, as well as works by the great architect Oscar Niemeyer such as the Oca and the Bienal Pavilion (Pavilhão Ciccillo Matarazzo).

We will end the afternoon visiting Galeria Nara Roesler, one of the main contemporary art galleries in the city, or Praça do Pôr do Sol, whose main attraction is already implicit in its name.

Day 4 – SÃO PAULO

n this day, we will explore the historic center and its curiosities, passing through Largo do Arouche and Praça da República, until reaching the historic Municipal Theater, built in 1911 by the tireless architect Ramos de Azevedo. There, it is also possible to enjoy a coffee inside and continue on foot through the Novo Vale do Anhangabaú, which was recently renovated and takes us to the Mirante do Vale building, the highest in the city, where the Sampa Deck viewpoint is located. , the newest postcard of SP, which allows visitors the experience of admiring the city center on a glass structure, providing the sensation of hovering over the landscape.

Afterwards, we will cross the Santa Efigênia Viaduct, reaching the “Historical Triangle”, where we will visit the Monastery of São Bento, the Pátio do Colégio (foundation site of São Paulo) and the wonderful Sé Cathedral, located in front of Marco Zero, represented by Praça da Sé.

Not far from the Sé Cathedral is the unmissable Municipal Market. In short, it’s the all-in-one place to eat and everything is top notch. In addition, its classic-style architecture, built in 1932, is worth the visit, however, the real treasures are located in its mezzanine, where there are several restaurants offering Arabic food to excellent snack bars where you can taste the famous bologna sandwiches and cod pastry, both super stuffed and delicious!

Before enjoying any of the various clubs frequented by the LGBTQIA+ public in the city, it’s worth having dinner at the Ritz or Paris 6, two hotspots frequented by São Paulo artists and celebrities, before heading to the famous nightclub The Week, considered the largest LGBTQIA+ venue in the world (night club entrance fee & consumption, direct payment)
