Araras Eco Lodge & Jaguar Spotting Experience

The PANTANAL, the largest contiguous wetland on the planet, declared a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is South America’s primary wildlife sanctuary. With a total area of approximately 150,000km² it is a biogeography mixing bowl containing elements of the Amazon Forest, the Caatinga, the Brazilian Savannah, the Atlantic Rainforest and the Paraguayan Chaco. This fantastic biodiversity includes: 698 bird species, 80 mammals, 260 fish species and 50 reptiles.

Suggested Itinerary: 5 Days/ 4 Nights

DAY 1 – CUIABÁ/ ARARAS ECO LODGE
Pick up at the airport and transfer to Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge.The journey is divided in two stages: the first, on a paved road for 100 km / 62.13 mi to Poconé, passing by farms and savanna. Then the second stage, entering the Estrada Parque
Transpantaneira (park road) unpaved. The transfer is considered a photo-safari for the many species of animals and birds
found along its length. Vehicle will make several stops for photos. Arrival at the lodge, reception and accommodation. Late
afternoon hike of the lodge surroundings. Dinner and a night walk to hear the noises of nature.

DAY 2 – ARARAS ECO LODGE
After breakfast, departing to Rio Clarinho (river) riding on the floodplain ways. At Rio Clarinho riverbank, take a canoe and
explore its banks, mangroves and forest. With luck, a sight of a family of ariranhas (giant otters) will be nearby. A picnic lunch will be prepared at the campsite. Return to the lodge and time to rest. Hike to the Howler Monkey Tower to enjoy a beautiful sunset view. Return to the lodge and dinner. Night tour by truck to spot the animals.

DAY 3 – ARARAS ECO LODGE/ PORTO JOFRE/ ARARAS ECO LODGE
This will be an adventure and busy day to search for the jaguar. Timetable:
05h30 – Breakfast at Araras Eco Lodge.
06h00 – Departure in an air-conditioning vehicle, towards south, along 120 km of the Transpantaneira Park Road, to the
crossing of the Cuiaba River, in the region known as Porto Jofre.
09h00 – Board an outboard motor boat for an exciting river safari in and around the Meeting of the Waters State Park,
perching the river shores and beaches searching for wildlife, with the special goal of meeting jaguars.
12h30 – Stop for a light pic-nic lunch (fruit and sandwiches).
17h30 – Return to Jofre embarkation port.
18h00 – Return on a late afternoon drive along the Transpantaneira Park Road to Araras Eco Lodge.
20h30 – Dinner at Araras Eco Lodge.

DAY 4 – ARARAS ECO LODGE
After breakfast, hike to the Tuiuiu Tower. Lunch at the lodge and time to rest. Horseback ride in the afternoon. Dinner at the
lodge. Slide presentation.

DAY 5 – ARARAS ECO LODGE/ CUIABÁ
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to the airport

The season for Jaguar Spotting Experience is available only Mid June to Mid November.
Program includes:
– Regular transfers Airport Cuiaba/ Pantanal/ Airport with bilingual guide;
– Regular tours with bilingual guide, including jaguar full day experience;
– Accommodation at Araras Eco Lodge with full board (no beverage).
