Exclusive Pantanal, Bodoquena & Bonito 2022

The PANTANAL, the largest contiguous wetland on the planet, declared a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is South America’s primary wildlife sanctuary. With a total area of approximately 150,000km² it is a biogeography mixing bowl containing elements of the Amazon Forest, the Caatinga, the Brazilian Savannah, the Atlantic Rainforest and the Paraguayan Chaco. This fantastic biodiversity includes: 698 bird species, 80 mammals, 260 fish species and 50 reptiles.

THE WATER CYCLES OF THE FLOODPLAIN
October – it starts to rain, after at least 90 days of draught
November / December – the green returns to plain
January – the beginning of the high waters flooding the plains and basins, reaching its
peak by mid March, when the rain season ends
April to June – a progressive drying out
July to September – the plain is dry again
Suggested Itinerary: 7 Days/ 6 Nights

Day 1 – Campo Grande/Pantanal
Arrival, reception and private transfer to Pantanal. Arrival and accommodation at Caiman Ecological Refuge. Regular activities and dinner.

Days 2 & 3 – Pantanal
Breakfast and regular activities (three tours a day, shared with other guests). Full board
included. *We recommend the clients to do the optional tour Oncasafari, to spot jaguars. It is not
included*

Day 4 – Pantanal/Bodoquena/Bonito
Breakfast and right after transfer to Bodoquena/Boca da Onça Falls. Arrival, hiking through the forest stopping by the falls, included lunch. At the end of the tour transfer to Bonito. Arrival and accommodation at Pousada. Evening at leisure. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.

Day 5 – Bonito
Breakfast. Transfer to the Gruta do Lago Azul (Blue Lake Cave). A short hike in the forest leads to the impressive entrance of the Cave. Inside the cave, several kinds of speleothems create a magic scenery with a deep blue lake at the bottom of the Cave. After the end of the tour, return to Bonito and lunch at local restaurant (not included). Then continue to Buraco das Araras tour (macaw´sanctuary). This tour is a Contemplative walk, lasting about 01 hour passing by the geological formation resulting from the collapse of rock blocks through thousands years ago creating this enormous cavity: it has a circumference of 500 meters (1600 feet) and the depth reaches 100 meters (330 feet). At the bottom, an emerald-green lagoon, surrounded by exuberant vegetation, is home to caimans whose survival is a mystery. Besides them and the macaws, mammals such as armadillos, anteaters, coatis, foxes and other 130 bird species, including ibris and toucans, chose the place to live. Return to hotel and evening at leisure. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.

Day 6 – Bonito
Breakfast. Head to Sucuri River snorkeling, where visitors will be met at the Main House to try and test the necessary gear and then start a 400 meters light hike up to the river where the tour starts. At the river visitors will help paddle the boat 1.300 meters up river while enjoying all the beauty of the gallery forest and the transparency of the river from the boat. At the end of this ride visitors will then put on their masks and snorkels, jump out of the boat and finally see all the beauty of one of the most transparent rivers in the world. After the end of the tour, lunch will be served at the main house.Transfer back to the hotel in Bonito.. Evening at leisure. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.

Day 7 – Bonito/Campo Grande
Breakfast. Check-out from hotel in Bonito and transfer back to Campo Grande according to flight time

– Private transfer Campo Grande airport / Pantanal;
– 2 nights at Pousada Caiman in full board basis with regular tours;
– 1 Day-Use at Boca da Onça Farm – visiting the waterfalls. Lunch included;
– 3 nights at the pousada including daily breakfast;
– Bonito Tours*: Visit to the Blue Lake Cave, Visit to Macaws sanctuary, Hike and
Snorkeling at the Sucuri River with lunch included;
*Transportation is private but the tours are on regular basis, shared with more people
in small groups*
